2254 <br />1 <br /> <br />HPECIAL MEETING OF JUNE 16, 196,5 <br />The special meeting was called to order at 7s30 P.M. with the following members <br />present: Mayor Nilsen, Clerk Strandquist, Trus tees Warkentien and Black. Also <br />present was Engineer Lemberg. Absent: Trustee Stone. <br />Fire Department - <br />Herbert G. Nelson Nilsen moved, seconded by Strandquist and duly carried <br />emplo~ted as Fire that Herbert Glen Nelson, 2391 West Larpenteux Avenue be <br />Fighter: employed to fill vacancy in fire department created by <br />resignation of Donald W. Schoen. His employment is to <br />begin June 17, 1965 and is subject to the six months <br />probationary period and is also subject to his being found <br />in good health after physical examination. Salary shall <br />commence with step No. 3 at ~1~~.5.00 a month. Herbert <br />Nelson and Fire Chief Al Helbig will appear before the <br />Council at the regular meeting of June 23 at 7:30 P.M. <br />Improvement #65-1 Discussion was held regarding proposed storm sewers <br />Storm Sewers: with regard to cost and financing. Bob Sander of Juran <br />and Moody Investors was present. Engineer Lemberg, <br />Attorney Galvin and Bob Sander will prepare brochure on <br />this project for distribution to home-owners affected. <br />Parks and Nilsen moved that Engineer Lemberg be authorized to make <br />Playgrounds: a study as to proper location for tennis courts and ice <br />skating rinks on the Falcon Heights School grounds, and <br />to make a survey for suitable location for a University <br />Grove playground area. Engineer is further instructed to <br />make report to the council at meeting of June 23. <br />Notion seconded by Black and carried. <br />Hermes' Business <br />Properties <br />Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Thomas, 1710 St. Mary's Street, were <br />present to register complaints regarding the alley behind <br />HermesT business section (which bounds their property). <br />Complaints are as follows: <br />(1) There is a considerable amount of traffic in <br />alley. <br />(2) "Private Driveway" sign has not yet been <br />3.nstalled. <br />(3) Hermes has not yet erected seven foot redwood <br />fence as per agreement. <br />(l~) Snow is pushed onto Thomas' property. <br />(5) Large mail trucks have caused damage. <br />(6) Barricades have been tried, but do no good. <br />1 <br />Adjournment: <br />Clerk was instructed to write Village Attorney outlining <br />these complaints and request attorney to contact Thomast <br />attorney, Richard Leonard, East First National Bank Building, <br />St. Paul. <br />Upon motion, the meeting w <br />Signed: <br />Approved~'~'- `~. <br />
