2328 <br />REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 12, 1966 <br />The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the following members <br />present: Mayor Nilsen, Clerk Strandquist, Trustees Warkentien, Stone and <br />Black. Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Attorney Galvin and Engineer Lemberg. <br />Mrs. Grace Lucas was present for the League of Women Voters. Sue Keller of <br />1852 No. Pascal was an observer. <br />Oaths of Office: Clerk Strandquist performed the duty of swearing in <br />Harold Nilsen who was re-elected Mayor for a term of <br />two years. Clerk Strandquist performed the duty of <br />swearing in Willis Warkentien who was re-elected Trustee <br />for a term of three years. Clerk Strandquist performed <br />the duty of swearing in William E. Olsen who was re-elected <br />Treasurer for a term of two years. <br />Minutes Stone moved, seconded by Warkentien that minutes of the <br />meeting of December 22, 1965 be approved. Motion carried. <br />Radar - Trial by Police Officer Nordeen was present regarding trial by jury <br />Jury: in Roseville Municipal Court. He stated that one member <br />of the jury stressed the mistaken idea to the jurors that <br />the tuning fork on a radar system is affected by weather. <br />The jury, therefore, concluded that prosecution had not <br />established within a reasonable doubt that the defendant <br />was going 50 miles an hour in a !~0 mile zone, as charged. <br />Workmen's Compensation Order of Reference and Notice of Hearing to make <br />Notice of Hearing - findings of fact and determination as may be required by <br />Dewey A. Smiths law was received from the Industrial Commission of Minnesota. <br />Hearing will be held on February 2, 1966. Same notice was <br />sent to `Dewey A. Smith, Jr., and Iowa National Mutual <br />Ins urance Company, the workmen's compensation carrier. <br />Fire Chief Reports Fire Chief Helbig reported on activities and conditions <br />within the Fire Department. He stated that approximately <br />six calls a year are for fires started in rubbish haulers' <br />trucks and suggested that some charge be made for exting- <br />uishing these fires. Stone moved that Village Clerk be <br />instructed to send bill to Walter's Disposal Service in <br />the amount of $15.00 in payment of services in extinguishing <br />fire on December 7, 1965. Motion seconded by Warkentien. <br />Ayes: All. Nays: None, Motion carried. It was also <br />suggested that a charge be made for services rendered on <br />ear fires of non-residents of Falcon Heights. <br />Minnesota Traffic Requests from the Minnesota Traffic Safety Council and <br />Safety Council and the National Safety Council Traffic Inventory Division <br />National Traffic for traffic inventory of 1965 were turned over to Trustee <br />Safety Council: Warkentien. <br />Cigarette License: Having met the requirements, it was moved by Stone, <br />seconded by Black and duly carried that license to sell <br />cigarettes be issued to B. B. Anderson, who recently <br />became owner of the Falcon Heights Pharmacy. <br />
