SPECIAL P:RE TING At!(=UST 21st, 1958. <br />D.~eeting was called to order at 7:30 P. R4., the following Council ?embers <br />being present. Harold C. Nilsen, Paayor; Geo. Shavor, Trustee; Paul <br />Coppini, Trustee. Also present were Frank N. Graham, Village Attorney, Nick <br />Christensen, Building Inspector, and Ethel E. G'~hite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy <br />Treasurer. Absent: Utecht, t~~~arkentien and Olsen. <br />1 <br /> <br />Gas Inspector P~Iayor Nilsen explained that Elwood Larsen, who had been our <br />Gas Inspector found it necessary to resign because he no <br />longer had time enough to handle our work. Larson recommended <br />Frank Eha, 1082 Lombard, Ca. 6_5829, who does the same kind of <br />work for the City of St. Paul as Par. Larson does. Pdr. Eha is <br />presently employed by the Parks, Playgrounds & Public Buildings <br />Department, City of St. Paul, under Al, Schroeder. The manner <br />of handling this work was discussed. It eras decided that Eha <br />would confer with Larsen regarding files, procedure, etc., and <br />work out a system which he considers proper and adequate and <br />present it to the Council at the mext meeting. <br />Falcon Oil P~Ir. Oscar Husby of the Falcon Oil Company was present. He <br />said he was riot aware of the fact that a permit was required <br />for concrete work inasmuch as they "let out" all this kind of <br />work. He advised that they had consulted with the street <br />engineers regarding their grade, and that these same engineers <br />had put in the "Blue tops" for them. Shavor said the Council <br />had thought they might be able to drain the alley back of <br />Falcon Oil by asking Husby for an easement to run a pipe under <br />the west side of their property to Larpenteur. Husby said they <br />could still get the easement. Husby and Christensen have an <br />appointment to check grades Tuesday, August 26th, at. 7 P. P:?. <br />~~~~ <br />Streets There was a general discussion regarding the condition of <br />Village Streets. h~tayor Nilsen said he had talked to Hindermann <br />and Pennig and they had agreed to study the "Specs" covring <br />street work contracted for under the sewer installation contract. <br />It was decided that members of the Council, Hindermann, Pennig <br />and Ljungren would inspect the streets, at tivhich time Hinder- <br />mann and Pennig would give the Council their opinions, after <br />which T. ?S. D. A. ~ A~~;sociates would be contacted. Nilsen will <br />see that the Specs are delivered to Pennig and Hindermann. <br />Pennig recommends that this be done as soon as possible because <br />of the approaching colder weather. Attorney Graham recommended <br />that we do not pay any bills until w© find out where the responsi- <br />bility lies. <br />P~lutual Aid Attorney Graham advised that the Roseville Council had passed <br />Fire Dept. the Emergency Fire Resolution. <br />Barthel It was agreed that attorney Graham would contact the attorney <br />Villas for 3arthel advising him that the Council is considering making <br />an offer. In the meantime, the advisability of purchasing <br />these lots will be studied. <br />1-tosquito After discussion, it,v,~as moved by Shavor, seconded by Nilsen <br />Control and unanimously voted to write the Board of Ramseur County <br />Commissioners, in reply to their letter of August 20th, indicating <br />our approval of the T:?osquito Control Program and requesting that <br />it be continued. <br />
