Minutes of the meeting of <br />July 26 were read and approved. <br />Additional foundation It was brought to the attention of the council that because of <br />depth required on fire soil conditions where the combined firestation village hall is <br />station being constructed, an additional .foundation depth was required. <br />Upon motion by Rysgaard, seconded by Lindig, the following <br />resolution was adopted: RESOLVED: that the general contractor <br />J. S. Sweitzer & Son be instructed to excavate and extend the <br />foundation walls to reach a bearing soil, satisfactory to the <br />architect and subject to the approval of ,the architect, the <br />cost to be based on a cubic yardage basis of 42¢ a cubic yard <br />for all necessary excavating, form work, concrete, and removal <br />of forms, beyond the original plans and specifications and that <br />the Deputy Clerk be instructed to confirm this action by letter <br />to J• S. Sweitzer & Son. <br />Trailer permit B. H. Kryzer, 1867 W. Larpenteur, asked for a permit to have on <br />requested his property a trailer owned bnd occupied by J. A. Sigfrid. Mr. Altman stated his clients had decided not to buy the two <br />lots in the rear of Pardel "C•" He raised a question regarding <br />the legality of the hearing and regarding the ownership of some <br />of the property to be rezoned. <br />Mayor Matteson declared the hearing closed and stated the matter <br />would be taken under advisement and that the request for rezoning <br />would be submitted to the Ramsey County Planning Commission f <br />recommendation. <br />H• E. Anderson reported Mr. Freitag of the Fire Underwriters had <br />looked over the fire equipment and location of the fire station <br />Fart; "pro-~er~.: on • and was apparently pleased with the set-up. 1Nhen the station is <br />completed and the second piece of equipment has been obtained, <br />Mr. Freitag will make a general survey of the whole area. The <br />present hydrant area Class 8 may be extended a little beyond <br />the existing perimeter. Also, if the present 3" main on Hamline <br />could be replaced with a 6" main, the people living in Larpenteur <br />Manor could have a Class 8 rating. Shavor suggested the matter <br />be referred to Larpenteur Manor Improvement Assn. H. E. Ander- <br />son further reported he had talked over with Mr. Freitag our sug- <br />gested contract for fire protection for Lauderdale. Mr. Freitag <br />thought the contract a fair one and stated that if Lauderdale <br />entered into this contract with Falcon Heights, it would keep <br />its Class 9 rating and possibly part of Lauderdal would come <br />under a Class 8 rating. H. E• Anderson is to follow up on this <br />with W. J• Bronkala, Mayor of the Village of Lauderdale. <br />
