~i~4 <br />REGULAR MEETING, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 195b <br />Meeting called to .order at 7:110 P.M., the following council members being present: <br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; and Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. <br />Absent: George J. Shavor, Trustee; David P. Cartwright, Trustee; and Frank N. Graham, <br />Attorney. Also present: William E. Olsen, Treasurer, and B. C. Hart, Attorney. <br />Minutes of July 25, 1956 were read and with reference to alley surfacing, on page 703, <br />were corrected to read "Engineer Ljungren estimated the cost of engineering at about <br />X100.00," instead of "Engineer Ljungren estimated the cost at about $100.00." The <br />minutes were then approved as corrected. <br />Arrest tag Public Safety Supervisor Don Arndt appeared before the council, <br />books stating that a supply of arrest tag books were needed. He said <br /> the revised tags book would be in triplicate, with the Court, <br /> the violator and arresting officer each receiving a copy. Said <br /> he would recommend purchase of 100 books and that these could be <br /> purchased from the Inter City Printing Company, of St Paul, for <br /> X52.60. Utecht moved that Arndt be authorized to order 100 of <br /> the arrest tag books for the Public Safety Department. Seconded <br /> by Stewar t and motion carried unanimously. <br />.Maple Knoll. Don Arndt also reported that the meeting scheduled for August 6, 1956 <br />traffic with the Citizens' committee of Maple Kno11 had been postponed by <br /> agreement until Monday evening, August 13, 1956. <br />Maple Knoll A petition was received signed by A. J.Steinworth, Jr. and 17 other <br />barricade residents of Maple Knoll, objecting to the proposed barricading <br />objected to of the entrance to Maple Knoll drive off Snelling avenue. On motion <br /> by Utecht, seconded by Stewart, the petition was referred to Trustee <br /> Nilsen for use at Maple Knoll Citizens' meeting on August 13, 1956. <br /> <br />Christensen's Who <br />Building Inspector Nick ChristensernRho~was in attendance at ,the <br />donation= to council's meeting, announced that he wished to donate X200.00 <br />Parks & from his building inspection fees to the Village of Falcon Heights <br />Playgrounds .Parks and Playgrounds fund. Utecht moved that the council go <br /> on record as thanking and commending Nick Christensen on behalf <br /> of the Village and its citizens for his generous contribution to <br /> the Parks and Playgrounds fund. Seconded by Stewart and motion <br /> carrieds unanimously. <br />J.P: returns Treasurer Olsen brought up the question as to proper procedure <br />in connection with the handling of finds colled~d by the Justice <br />of the Peace, and whether checks in~payment of fines should be <br />made payable to the Village or to the Justice of the Peace. <br />After discussion, the question was referred to Attorney Hart for <br />checking and report. <br />"Daylighting'- Engineer L~urigren's letter of August 8, 1956, was read relative. <br />Maple Knoll to his suggestion for improving visibility at the intersection of <br />drive & Garden Maple Knoll drive and Garden avenue, stating (1) The lot abutting <br />ave. inter- on the south of the short piece of Garden Avenue connecting Maple <br />section Knoll and Snelling Avenue be lowered to match the lawn of the house <br />on the next lot to the south and (2) also the lot abutting Garden <br />.avenue on the north be lowered likewise. After discussion, including <br />.the water situation in Maple Knoll, Nilsen moved that the Engineer's <br />letter and sketch be turned over to Mr. Christensen for use in <br />connection with issuing of building permits for Lots 1, 3, 9 and 10, <br />
