No. R-92-8 <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />C O U N C I L R E S O L U T I O N <br />Date: March 25, 1992 <br />A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 24, 1992 AS <br />ARBOR DAY AND THE MONTH OF MAY AS ARBOR MONTH IN FALCON HEIGHTS <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota's forest treasures were a significant <br />attraction to early settlers because of their usefulness and the beautiful <br />environment they provided; and <br />WHEREAS, there is now and will be in the future, a great emphasis <br />placed on preservation of all areas of the environment; and <br />WHEREAS, trees are a vital resource purifying air and water and <br />helping to conserve soil and energy, plus serving as recreational settings, <br />providing habitat for wild life of all kinds, and making our cities more <br />attractive; and <br />WHEREAS, Falcon Heights has been recognized as a Tree City U.S.A. <br />y the National Arbor Day Foundation and desires to continue its tree <br />~lanting ways; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City <br />of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, that April 24, 1992 be proclaimed Arbor Day and <br />the month of May be proclaimed Arbor Month in Falcon Heights, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all citizens be urged to become more <br />aware of the importance of trees to their well being, to participate in tree <br />planting programs that will ensure a green Minnesota in decades to come, and <br />to plant, nurture, protect, and wisely use our great treasure of trees. <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PP - - -y - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />YEAS 4 NAYS A roved b /6~1 <br />Mayor <br />BALDWIN ~ ~~~ ~~ ~" <br />CIERNIA 4 In Favor Date <br />GEHRZ <br />JACOBS O Against <br />GIBBON TALBOT Absent <br />...Adopted by Counci 1 3/25/92 <br />2 <br />G' - <br />Attested by <br />Ci y lerk <br />Date <br />
