CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of <br />the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, was held <br />on the 11th day of January, 1978. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />members Black, McGough, Steele and Brown and the. following were <br />absent: None. <br />Councilman McGough introduced the following Resolution and moved <br />its adoption. <br />RESOLUTION 78-4 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE UNIVERSITY OF <br />MINNESOTA TO CONSIDER RELOCATING THEIR PRO- <br />POSED LIGHTED RECREATIONAL AREA TO A MORE <br />ACCESSIBLE AREA FOR THEIR STUDENTS THAN THE <br />AREA NORTH OF LARPENTEUR AVENUE AND EAST OF <br />CLEVELAND AVENUE, and <br />WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota is proposing to locate a <br />lighted recreational area north of Larpenteur Avenue and east of <br />Cleveland Avenue and, <br />WHEREAS, the residents in the area strongly object to this <br />location for the following reasons: <br />1. Lengthly hours of operation with high level <br />illumination and attentant noise. <br />2. Reduction in value for homeowners near the site <br />area as well as future property development in <br />the Rose Hill Nursery area, and, <br />WHEREAS, the representatives of Falcon Heights on the Planning <br />Committee for Lighted Recreational Fields for the St. Paul campus <br />have submitted to the City Council their recommendation that the <br />University of Minnesota .selected a site more acessible to students <br />of the St. Paul Campus but not adjacent to residential neighborhoods. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Falcon. <br />Heights respectfully .urges .the University of Minnesota to select <br />a .site more appropriate and accessible to fib. students of the St. <br />Paul Campus, but not adjacent to ,residential _neighborhoods. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Steele and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted <br />in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough <br />Steele and Brown, and the following voted against the same: None. <br />WHEREUPON, the Resolution was declared duly passe and adopted. <br />-. <br />~ ,~ ~ <br />// ~,~` <br />WILLIS C.A.
