<br />No. 99-03 <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />COUNCIL RESOLUTION <br />Date: January 13, 1999 <br />------------------------------------------------------- <br />PROCLAMATION REGARDING CITY GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY <br />SOLUTION TO THE YEAR 2000 (Y2K) PROBLEM <br />WHEREAS, there is a high degree of uncertainty with regard to the <br />community-wide impact of Y2K induced infrastructure failures; and <br />WHEREAS, the situation caused by these infrastructure failures could <br />be geographically and functionally broader than past infrastructure failures; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, community preparedness is emerging as a necessary and <br />effective approach to prepare for this situation; and <br />• WHEREAS, Falcon Heights has a long and honored history of <br />neighbors and neighborhoods working together; and <br />WHEREAS, Y2K presents an unprecedented challenge for the Falcon <br />Heights community; and <br />WHEREAS, by preparing now our community will be better off and <br />may be in a position to lend assistance, where needed, to people of other <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the city council has appointed a community preparedness <br />coordinator and a community preparedness Y2K task force to prepare the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the city council has designated a Y2K coordinator to <br />research Y2K compliance on city facilities and equipment, has directed the <br />city staff to make purchases that are Y2K compliant and is prepared to cover <br />any necessary unanticipated costs for Y2K compliance; <br />WHEREAS, the city is working with its contract and service providers <br />• to establish their Y2K compliance measures; <br />
