V <br />MINUTES <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />SEPTEMBER 23, 1985 <br />Called to order by Floyd Bedbury. <br />Members present: Floyd Bedbury, Tom Montain, Paul Nelson, <br />Keith Moderson, Annette Geistfeld, Leo Ohman, Connie Lasser, <br />Paul Ciernia, liaison. <br />Guest: Ardis Hutchins <br />Members absent: Tom Ammann <br />The commission has new members from the Falconeers, Leo and <br />Jean Ohman to replace Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair. Also Carol Parks <br />has resigned due to re~QCation. <br />Paul Ciernia reported that the City Council has approved our <br />budget and request for a part-time director at the Council <br />Workshop, September 2, and it is expected to pass at the City <br />Council meeting September 25, 1985. <br />Ardis Hutchins and Connie Lasser are to contaet.Maurice Anderson, <br />President of the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Associatinn and <br />Tom McMullen, Director of St. Anthony Community Services, Floyd <br />Bedbury is to contact the Director of Placement at Hamline University. <br />~~e are inviting these people to our next meeting, November 4, to <br />discuss our new director positinn and our program. <br />Commission approved drafts of letters of response to par~n~s <br />written by Paul Ciernia. <br />Paul Ciern~,~, is to draft a letter to Gertrude Esteros concerning <br />the condominium association, informing them of Park and Recreation <br />Commission meetings and letting them know we are interested in <br />their ideas about the Grove Park. <br />Paul Ciernia is to draft a letter of thanks to Carol Parks for <br />her participation on the commission. <br />Connie Lasser to send a card to Mrs. Sinclair from the commission <br />as she has been injured and in the hospital. <br />Warming house attendents/flooders were discussed and are to be <br />advertised in the October newsletter and also in the High Schools. <br />The commission appointed a committee to screen applicants for these <br />jobs. The committee members are Paul Nelson and Tom Montain. <br />They are to work with the city staff to determine the number of <br />employees hired last year. The commission discussed the need for <br />the winter employees to be Liven a first-aid training session, <br />an equipment training session and identification patches to be <br />worn on the job. <br />
