<br />MINUTES <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />DECEMBER 2, 1985 <br />Called to order by Connie Lassen, Chairperson.. <br />Members Present: Tom Montain, Connie Lasser and Paul Ciern.ia, <br />Council Liaison <br />Guests: Ardis Hutchins, and Gertrude Estros <br />Members Absent: Tom Amman.,. Floyd Bedbury, Paul Nelson, and I,eo and <br />Jean.Ohman <br />General Announcements by Chairperson.Lassers <br />Annette Geistfeld, Grove Representative, resigned. Anew Grove Representative <br />will be appointed in January. <br />Winter Employee Announcements by Tom Montain: <br />Eight rink attendants have been hired. <br />Steve Nelson has been hired as the Winter Supervisor. Steve is a <br />college student with past experience as a Falcon Heights Rink <br />Attendant. <br />Wednesday, December 11, Falcon Heights Maintenance staff will <br />• train winter .employees as to how to flood the rinks. <br />.Saturday, December 7th at 10:00 A.M., the Fire Department will <br />give first aid training to all. winter employees. <br />Tom will be responsible for reviewing the job description. with <br />rink attendants. <br />Connie and Paul will also try to attend the meeting Saturday. <br />Tom will be responsible for making Rink Attendant. Buttons. Ardis <br />..has volunteered to help design the buttons. <br />Due to the early cold weather, the Commission decided to grant <br />approval for the rinks. to start being flooded after the training <br />session Wednesday. <br />(Note: Rinks had been scheduled to open December -26th) <br />Discussion of 1666 Coffman with Gertrude Estros: <br />Gertrude explained to the Commission how the retirement housing <br />project had taken 20 feet along the north end of the existing <br />.Grove park. She sketched a map of the park and housing site <br />and described the traffic circulation and parking. <br />Because of the 20 foot change, the existing Ball field will have <br />to be relocated. <br />The Commission must make park decisions prior to spring when the <br />grass will be resoded and other landscape improvements made. <br />The Commission discussed the desirability for a walking path/ <br />• bike path along the east side of .Coffman (bordering the park) anal <br />along the south side of Larpenteur (in front of the housing <br />development). <br />
