Grove Park
Members of the Grove Association presented a proposal to the Park and
Recreation Commission to update the recreational equipment in the Grove
Park. This proposal had been worked on for several weeks and involved
purchasing some new equipment and improving the park in general. The
Grove Association had approved this proposal by a vote of ~}$-6. This
proposal also has the backing of 1666 Coffman. Clint Hewitt from the
University of Minnesota has also been kept updated on this plan.
Members of the Grove Association and members of the Park and Reereatioin
Commission also plan to visit with the builder/developer of 1666 Coffman
Thursday, May 22, 1986. The builder/developer had originally agreed to
complete a rather elaborate ball field to replace the one damaged during
construction. However, since the Grove Association did not want a ball
field under their proposal it is hoped the builder will, perhaps, grade
the park, or blacktop a basketball area, or perform other items to
compensate for the ball field.
• Gene Mason, a resident of the Grove, disagreed with the proposal From the
Grove Association, particularly the placement of play equipment.
The Commission decided to meet May 20, 1986 at the Grove Park to view the
layout for themselves.
2. Bike Rodeo
The Bike Rodeo has been set for May 17, 1986, 10:00 A.M. at the Falcon
Heights Learning Center. Fall Recreation Program
This needs to be discussed shortly as we hope to get something in the June
newsletter.
4. Fence at Community Park
• Members of the Commission will look at the fence separating the play area
from the basketball area to aid in determining if the fence is still
needed. Some discussion was also held regarding a tennis backstop/fence
at Idaho/Snelling.
