• <br />• <br />s <br />MINUTES <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />November 10, 1986 <br />Members Present: Bob Gehrz, Leo Ohman, Ardis Hutchins, Connie <br />Lasser, Keith Moderson, Paul Nelson, Pat Bush, <br />and Council Liaison Ciernia <br />Members Absent: Tom Amman, Floyd Bedbury, Tom Montain <br />Guests: Three members of the Grove Association <br />1. Policy for Rink Attendants - Pat Bush will hire, supervise and <br />schedule rink attendants this year. A description of duties and <br />guidelines for these rink attendants was passed out. Discussion <br />and some minor changes were made. The suggested salary was about <br />$3.75 an hour or $2,600 total for the skating season. There was <br />some discussion regarding the recreational rink at the Falcon <br />Heights School. Pat Bush will check and see if two separate or <br />adjoining rinks can be flooded to separate hockey and recreational <br />skaters. <br />Also, signs will be posted on the warming houses at Idaho-Snelling <br />and at the Community Park detailing hours of the skating season. <br />2. Winter Activity Day - Pat Bush has suggested this Commission sponsor <br />a winter activity day at the Community Park on a Sunday afternoon <br />around the first part of February. Some of the suggested activities <br />may include: cross country ski instruction, figure skating, speed <br />skating, Gopher/North Star hockey clinic, treasure hunt, snow <br />man building contest and hot cider and refreshments. <br />More work will be done on this at a later meeting. <br />• <br />3. Winter Program - The first part of January is targeted for beginning <br />the winter program. A notification will be made in the Roseville <br />Review. Bush will also check to see if the Bu le would be worthwhile <br />to also use. <br />4. Grove Park Warming House - Three members of the Grove Association <br />were present to express their concern that they would like to see <br />a continuation of a warming house at this park. Pat Bush had <br />a building inspector look at .the warming house. His recommendation <br />was that the present structure was not worth fixing up and indeed <br />should be dismantled. The Park and Recreation Commission made a <br />motion to dismantle the warming house at the Grove per the inspector's <br />recommendation while keeping the security light used for night <br />skating. Motion was carried. <br />
