•
r

PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEMBERS:
DUE TO A LACK OF AGENDA ITEMS,
THERE WILL NOT BE A JANUARY 12
COMMISSION MEETING.
PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING OUR WINTER
CELEBRATION AT FALCON HEIGHTS
COMMUNITY PARK ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8
FROM 1:00 TO 4:00. THE EVENT WILL INCLUDE
REFRESHMENTS, KIDS ACTIVITIES AND CRAFTS,
SKATING, AND SLEIGH RIDES. I WOULD
APPRECIATE IT IF COMMISSION MEMBERS
COULD ARRIVE AT ABOUT 12:30 TO ASSIST
WITH SET-UP.
ICE RINK UPDATE: As I'm sure you are aware, mother nature has not
cooperated with our attempts to build and maintain ice on the skating rinks.
The Parks and Public Works crews have done lots of flooding over the last
several weeks but have seen much of the ice melt and run off in the mild
temperatures. A scattered few rinks in neighboring communities have
opened in the last few days, but with very poor ice. Although the last week
has still not been ideal for flooding, our rinks have continued to be flooded
regularly and will be opening on Saturday. Rinks will be flooded several times
today (Friday) and several times again over the course of the weekend. It's
been a battle. This weekend's cold temperatures should finally provide us
with an opportunity to build a good base. We plan to make the most of it.
We are still looking forward to an enjoyable skating season and will work
hard to extend it as long as possible given the late start.

•
~,~~ a~ OCR, ~
,~
