'a1IPdUTES <br />pLANC~IING COT:--~;'iISSION ~,1Et~,TING <br />ALTGUST 9, 1982 <br />The planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.T~4. by Chairman <br />Al Stefanson. <br />Stefanson, Olson, Bourquin, Blomberg, Labalestra, ;Mead and ?~i'a1do. PRESENT <br />~R'ilsen, d'allin and Council Liaison Larson. ABSENT <br />The July 19, 1982 minutes were disc;zssed. There tivere no correcti~~ns JULY 19, 1982 <br />or deletions. Bourauin moved, seconded by i+~ead, that the July 19th MINUTES <br />minutes be approved. lotion carried unanimously. <br />Parnell Kingsley, 7.341 ~'sest Iowa, requested a variance to install a VARIANCE <br />double driveway without the required double garage. The subject real PARNELL <br />estate presently has a single garage and a single driveway. However, KINGSLEY <br /> <br />there are three adult residents in the home and each own a car. Since , <br />13L~1 W. IOR'A <br />Hamline Avenue is a heavily traveled street as well as a snow emergency <br />route, there is a need for off-street parlcing for these vehicles . It <br />is not financially feasible at the present time to construct a double <br />garage but it is her intention to construct a double garage at some <br />future date. The neighbors have no objections to the double driveway <br />construction. Johri Labalestra pointed out that there is a precedent <br />set with double dr~_veways and single garages at a number of homes; for <br />example, 1781 Albert; 1860, 180, 186 and 1888 Arona; and 1712, 17}~~t, <br />and 1791 Pascal. Don ~~~tead moved that the variance be granted. The <br />motion was seconded by Jim Bourquin. '.lotion carried unanimously. <br />Thomas Duffy of Leroy Signs, Inc. requested a variance and conditional VARIANCE AND <br />use to replace the existing "price sign'" at uncle Bob's C;-uik Six, 16°1 CONDITIONAL USE <br />RTOrth Snelling with a new 5'6" x 6'6" sign. The existing "price sign" UNCLE BOB'S <br />is 10' high by 10' wide. The replacement sign will be illuminated and QUIK SIX <br />will use the same pole structure. John Labalestra asked if the bottom 1691 N. SHELLING <br />part of the sign would be removed andt~~r. Duffy advised that it was the <br />Commission's discretion as to whether it could remain or should be <br />removed. Jim Bourquin moved, seconded by ^~tary ~~`aldo, that the variance <br />and conditional use be approved for the 5'6" by 6'6" sign replacement <br />with the bottom portion of the sign removed. Tv~otion carried unanimously. <br />A discussion ensued concerning the endorsement of the ''UD concept for ENDORSEMENT OF <br />the development o.i the Hawkins-Hermes property. The Commission agreed PUD CONCEPT FOR <br />that specific guidelines should be developed and written in r-tesolution HAWKINS-HERMES <br />PROPERTY <br /> <br />
