• <br />~~IIR'UTES <br />PLANATING C02JIt~~ISSION MEETING <br />P~ZARCH 7, 1983 <br />• <br />The Planning Commission was called to order at 7:35 P.I~~I. by Chairman <br />Al Stefanson. <br />Stefanson, Brown, Chenoweth, Olson, i',~allin, Bourquin and Nilsen« Also <br />present was Council .Liaison Ciernia. <br />mead and 1"~a1do. <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT <br />The February 7, 1.983 P~Iinutes were discussed. There being no corrections FEBRUARY <br />or deletions, Erma Olson moved, seconded by Helen Brown, that the 7, 1983 <br />February 7th P.4inutes be approved as presented. 2,4otion carried ~dINUTES <br />unanimously. APPROVED <br />Chairman Stefanson advised that Good Value Homes, Inc. met with the ACQUISITION <br />Clerk Administrator today. Good Value Homes is the second largest home OF HAVs'KINS <br />builder in the Twin Cities. They intend to develop the 17 acre Dawkins PROPERTY BY <br />property and build between 1~5-50 single family homes. They also intend GOOD VALUE <br />to put cash aside in lieu of park development. Good Value Homes will HOMES, INC. <br />submit a preliminary plan sometime in Rlarch. Hewlett Packard intends to <br />expand their facilities and would like the five acre Hermes parcel rezoned EXPANSION <br />from R-1 and R-2 to B-lA. Good Value Homes is aVrare of the expansion by BY HEYuZ,ETT <br />Hewlett Packard. Harold Nilsen stated that he felt the Tatum residents PACKARD <br />would not object to Hewlett-Packard's expansion if the same type of buffer <br />was maintained. After considerable discussion, Jim Bourquin moved, seconded <br />by Harold Nilsen, that it is the consensus of the Planning Commission to <br />favorably view the anticipated B-1A rezoning of the five acre Hermes parcel <br />directly north of Hewlett-Packard subject to the final presentation of the <br />overall plans and subject to the input of the abutting homeowners on Tatum <br />and future owners of the 17 acre Hawkins property to the north. T.otion <br />carried unanimously. <br />A discussion ensued regarding the development of the Flower City block DEVELOPMEPIT <br />and acquisition of other property to build a motel on the site. Phil OF FLO1~,'ER <br />Chenoweth stated that a tax increment financing district could be CITY BLOCK <br />established for the development. The City Council will be discussing <br />the development at their iUIarch 9th meeting where financial and social <br />issues will be considered. Chairman Stefanson chose to wait to establish <br />a subcommittee to review the comprehensive plan and development guidelines <br />until after the P.Zarch 9th Council meeting. <br />• <br />
