• <br />MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />JUNE 1, 1987 <br />Chairman Black opened the Planning Commission meeting at 7:30 P.M. <br />Black, Nestingen, Mead, Northrop, Duncan and Daykin. Also present <br />was Council Liaison Wallin. <br />Boche, Finegan and Grittner. <br />Mead moved, seconded by Daykin, to approve the Planning Commission Minutes <br />of May 4, 1987, as corrected (Duncan voted against the variance request <br />approval for Francis Crowley, 1769 North Snelling). Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Council Liaison Wallin advised that applicants need not attend City Council <br />meetings when requesting variances, conditional uses, etc. when the Planning <br />Commission unanimously approves such requests. <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT <br />MINUTES <br />OF 5/4/87 <br />APPROVED <br />Michael J. Farrell, 1543 West Iowa, requested a variance to construct a VARIANCE <br />porch on the front of his residence. Mr. Farrell reviewed his construction MICHAEL J <br />• plans and advised that his construction materials will be cedar and stained FARRELL, <br />in natural colors to preserve the wood. He presented letters from his 1543 WEST <br />neighbors voicing no objections. Duncan moved, seconded by Nestingen, IOWA, <br />to approve the variance request. Motion carried unanimously. APPROVED <br />Duncan questioned the procedure that the Planning Commission would take if <br />construction would be sub-standard to which Wallin advised that all construction <br />needs a building permit and inspections. He also suggested that the Planning CON- <br />Commission formulate a check-list to be used when any construction takes STRUCTION <br />place to assure that it does meet good construction standards. CHECKLIST <br />Chairman Black distributed a copy of a Planning Commission Member's job PLANNING <br />description. Such description will be given to members not in attendance COMMISSIO: <br />this evening and the item will be placed on the agenda for next month's JOB <br />meeting for discussion. DESCRIP- <br /> TION <br />Mead moved, seconded by Nestingen to adjourn the Planning Commission meeting <br />at 7:52 P.M. Motion carried unanimously.
