HUGO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING TO DISCUSS NATIONAL RECYCLING
INCORPORATED
JUNE 10, 2014
COUNCIL PRESENT: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt
COUNCIL ABSENT: Bronk
STAFF PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Planner Rachel Juba, Community
Development Intern Connor Schaefer.
Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.
The Hugo City Council held a neighborhood meeting to discuss the operations of National
Recycling Incorporated (NRI). Residents in attendance were from the Country Ponds
Development and the Creekview Preserve neighborhood located near the north NRI site.
City Administrator Bear gave a presentation that provided context and background of NRI's
operations and past actions by the City in regards to NRI. Residents expressed concerns about
the noise levels of the loading of the rail cars at the rail spur, the general appearance and
maintenance of the site, and the lack of compliance with the site plan approved by the City
Council in 2011.
Residents designated three neighborhood representatives (Desiree Rotter, Christine Taylor, and
Pat Dunn) to meet with City staff and work with the business owner to lessen impacts on the
neighboring areas.
The workshop was adjourned at 8:44 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Connor Schaefer
Community Development Intern
0
