MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON JULY 15, 2013 <br />Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Bronk, Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt <br />ABSENT: None <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, City Attorney Dave Snyder, City Engineer <br />Jay Kennedy, Public Works Director Scott Anderson and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Moment of Silence for Joan Marier <br />Mayor Weidt called for a moment of silence for Joan Marier, who passed away on July 5, 2013. <br />The Marier family owns and operates the Hugo Equipment Company, and Joan was a supporter <br />of the Yellow Ribbon Network. She will be missed by all who knew her. <br />Approval of the Minutes for the July 1, 2013 City Council Meeting <br />Klein made motion, Bronk seconded, to approve the minutes for the July 1, 2013 City Council <br />meeting as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of the Agenda <br />Weidt made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the agenda as amended. <br />Add to Council Presentations: Bald Eagle Lake and the Rice Creek Watershed District <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Presentation of Heart Safe Designation Award <br />At its April 15, 2013 meeting, the Council was updated by Hugo Fire Chief Kevin Colvard, <br />Hugo Quality Assurance Lieutenant Jimmy Roettger, and White Bear Lake Fire Department <br />Quality Assurance Technician/EMT Chris Voss on the Lake Area Heart Safe Community, which <br />is made up of Mahtomedi, Hugo, and White Bear Lake. The Lake Area received the designation <br />as a "Heart Safe Community". Representatives from Allina Clinic and the American Heart <br />Association were unable to attend this meeting, and the award was presented by Chris Voss and <br />Jimmy Roettger. The Council thanked everyone who was involved in attaining this award. <br />Swearing in of Firefighters Colin Emans, Amy Wigren, and Greg Teece <br />At its June 17, 2013 meeting, Council approved the hiring of of Colin Emans, Amy Wigren, and <br />Greg Teece as probationary firefighters on the Fire Department, and further directed staff to work <br />with Fire Chief Kevin Colvard to schedule a time for them to be officially sworn in at a City <br />Council meeting. The Mayor conducted the swearing in of Colin, Amy, and Greg as new Hugo <br />Firefighters. The Mayor called for a recess to allow Council to greet the new firefighters. The <br />meeting reconvened at 7:24 p.m. <br />
