Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for October 7, 2013 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Report <br />Council Member Chuck Haas and Council Member Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow <br />Ribbon Network activities held recently. <br />The YRN was presented a plaque displaying a Certificate of Appreciation and an American flag <br />that was flown in Afghanistan. This was presented to the YRN by the 257th Military Police <br />Company of the National Guard in appreciation of the work of the YRN volunteers. Members of <br />the 257th Military will be participating in the Welcome Home Pheasant Hunt. The YRN has <br />received over $30,000 in support from the community. A packing event with the Blue Ribbon <br />Moms is scheduled for November 16, 2013. <br />Update on I -35E MnPASS Steering Committee Meeting on Thursday, September 19, 2013 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear had attended the MnPASS Extension Study Discussion held on <br />Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hugo City Hall. This was the first meeting of two or three <br />meetings to be held with representatives from the Cities along the corridor between Vadnais <br />Heights and North Branch. Bryan reported that MnPASS lanes are being constructed on 35E <br />from downtown St. Paul to Little Canada Road. MN Department of Transportation is now <br />studying extension of the MnPASS lanes to County Road 96. This lane will alleviate congestion <br />along the corridor by adding a high occupancy vehicle lane that drivers can travel for free; there <br />will be a toll for single occupancy vehicles. The committee will be looking for input on how this <br />project is planned. <br />Six Cities Meeting on October 16, 2013 at Lino Lakes City Hall 7 p.m. <br />City Administrators from the Cities of Hugo, Lino Lakes, Lexington, Circle Pines, Forest Lake <br />and Columbus meet monthly to discuss collaboration among Cities including shared services. <br />Annually, this group is joined by cities leaders, preferably the mayor and a city council member. <br />The last meeting was attended by Mayor Weidt and Council Member Klein. Mayor Weidt stated <br />that he would be available to attend, and Council Member Petryk stated she may be able to <br />attend the Six Cities meeting on October 16, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at Lino Lakes City Hall. <br />Invitation to Thrive MSP Workshops <br />Staff provided the Council with the Metropolitan Council's preliminary local forecasts of <br />population, households and employment to 2040. The Met Council is holding workshops across <br />the region for local government officials and staff to learn more about these forecasts and <br />provide feedback on them and Thrive MSP 2040. <br />Weidt made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule a meeting for October 25, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. <br />to attend the Thrive MSP 2040 workshop at Maplewood Library in Maplewood. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
