JOINT CITY COUNCIL AND FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS MEETING <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2013 <br />7 P.M. <br />HUGO CITY HALL — ONEKA ROOM <br />Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Weidt, Council Members Bronk, Haas, Klein, Petryk <br />CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Finance Director Ron Otkin, City <br />Clerk Michele Lindau <br />FIREFIGHTERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Kevin Colvard, Deputy Chief Jim Compton Jr., <br />Assistant Chief Marry Schwartz, Training Captain Andy Churchill, Chief Engineer Roland <br />Guareschi, Training Lieutenant Kevin Kriegshauser, Safety Lieutenant Bob Bieniek, Lieutenant <br />Team Lead Jim Roettger, David Jensen <br />UNABLE TO ATTEND: Safety Captain/Fire Marshall Jim Fordham <br />Fire Chief Kevin Colvard provided updates from the September 29, 2011 Fire Department <br />Workshop. The officers talked about recruitment and retention of firefighters, what worked and <br />what did not. <br />Much of the discussion centered on the Basic Life Support (BLS) joint powers agreement with <br />the White Bear Lake Fire Department and whether this was still a good fit for the City. The Fire <br />Department Officers and City Council concluded that more information was needed. Another <br />joint meeting will be held in November to discuss options in more detail. <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to adjourn at 9:32 p.m. <br />All Ayes.
