MINUTES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING
145th STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT
JULY 23, 2012, 6:00
HUGO CITY HALL
Present: Mayor Miron, Council Members Haas, Petryk, Klein, and Weidt
Absent: None
Others Present: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Senior Engineering Technician Steve
Duff, Public Works Director Scott Anderson, and WSB City Engineer Jay Kennedy
Background: a meeting had been held on October 25, 2010 to provide residents
information regarding a proposed street improvement project in the City Hall/Lions Park
neighborhood. The residents were not in favor of doing a street improvement project at
this time; however, there was interest in the sidewalks along 145th being replaced.
Mayor Miron called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with the residents options for improvements
of the sidewalks. One option presented by staff was to remove the sidewalks on both
sides of 145th Street, reconstruct the north sidewalk at five -feet wide and extend it to the
Hardwood Creek Trail. Another option was to remove both sidewalks, except the portion
in front of the businesses, and extend it to the Hardwood creek trail. Residents indicated
support for replacing the sidewalk on the north side and removing the sidewalk on the
south side and installing sod.
Staff will bring a recommendation to the City Council at their next regularly scheduled
meeting.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bryan Bear
City Administrator
