MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MONDAY, MAY 34 2010 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt, Miron <br />ABSENT: None <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan <br />Bear, Assistant City Engineer Diane Hankee, City Attorney Dave Snyder, Finance Director Ron <br />Otkin, Fire Chief Jim Compton and Firefighters, and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Moment of Silence for Sergeant Joe Bergeron <br />Mayor Fran Miron called for a moment of silence for Sergeant Joe Bergeron, a Hugo resident <br />and Maplewood cop, was shot at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010, while he was in his squad <br />car and ready to confront two men who matched the description of a carjacker earlier that <br />morning near Lake Phalen in Maplewood. Joe was a 26 -year veteran of the Maplewood Police <br />Force and spent a short time on the City of Hugo's Volunteer Fire Department. He leaves <br />behind a wife and 13 -year-old twin daughters. Sergeant Joe Bergeron was 49 years old. <br />Approval of Minutes for the City Council Meeting on April 19, 2010 <br />Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the minutes for the April 19, 2010 City Council <br />meeting as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Minutes for the Board of Equalization Meeting on April 22, 2010 <br />Petryk made motion, Weidt seconded, to approve the minutes for the April 22, 2010 Board of <br />Equalization meeting as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Presentation of City of Hugo Outstanding Citizen Awards to Brian Peltier, Caesar Romero <br />and his son Ricky; and Recognition of Deputy Joe Stoehr and Hugo Firefighters for Their <br />Actions on April 10, 2010 in Trying to Save Debbie Joy Porterfield <br />On Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. an SUV driven by Debbie Joy Poterfield rolled into the <br />stormwater retention pond on the northeast corner of CSAH 8 and Oneka Parkway. The vehicle <br />immediately began filling with water. Three residents, Brian Peltier, Caesar Romero and his son <br />Ricky Romero, as well as Deputy Joe Stoehr swam out to the vehicle and attempted to rescue <br />
