The Citizen has been the
community newspaper for the City of Hugo and Centerville and the City of Hugo's official
newspaper for the past several years. Publisher Louis Melamed along with his wife Nancy Melamed
are proud to have been the publishers of the newspaper for the past eight years from its origin as
Your Neighborhood News and Report, with the assistance of Editor Deb Barnes. The success of the
newspaper is evidenced by the reduction of the City Newsletter to 2-3 times per year due to the
excellent coverage in The Citizen of the City of Hugo in the areas of City Government, schools, local
people and events. Mayor Fran Miron and City Administrator Mike Ericson met last month with
Louis and Nancy Melamed to personally thank them for their contributions to the City of Hugo.
Mayor Fran Miron presented Louis and Nancy Melamed with the City of Hugo's "Key to the City",
and extend the City of Hugo's deep appreciation and gratitude for doing an excellent job informing
the residents and business owners in the City of Hugo.
