MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL GOAL SETTING MEETING OF FEBRUARY 3, 2009 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 9:005 a.m. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt, Miron <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director <br />Bryan Bear, Public Works Director Scott Anderson, and Deputy Fire Chief Jadon 011ila <br />Review of 2008 City Goals <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson reviewed with Council the status of the 2008 City Focus <br />Goals. He stated that with the events and aftermath of the May 25, 2008 tornado disaster, <br />2008 will go down in the City's history. <br />Review of 2009 Fire Department Goals <br />Deputy Fire Chief Jadon 011ila shared with Council the proposed 2009 goals of the Hugo <br />Fire Department. They are: <br />• Firefighter safety <br />• Protection of life and property <br />• Fulltime position for chief and fire marshal <br />• 8/00 Mhz radio implementation - March 2009 <br />• Implementation of NFPA 1306 <br />• Continue refinements of BLS ambulance service <br />• Plan for training HFD members as paramedics <br />• Develop a fire department inspection plan for businesses <br />• Replace rescue truck 4216, which is in need of much repair <br />• Develop specifications for ladder truck for purchase in 2011 <br />• Plan for 2nd fire station - north location <br />• Hire two daytime firefighters <br />Review of 2009 Planning Commission Goals <br />Community Development Director Bryan Bear shared with Council the proposed 2009 goals <br />of the Hugo Planning Commission as discussed at their last Planning Commission meeting. <br />They are: <br />• Finish the northern gateway <br />• Code enforcement subcommittee to discuss variance procedures <br />• Implementation of the downtown plan <br />• Commercial and Industrial design guidelines <br />• Track blighted properties in downtown <br />• Zoning Ordinance updates. <br />• Bus tour in 2009 <br />
