Community Development Bryan Bear presented the 2008 Planning
Commission Annual Report which showed new home permits dropped over the past years due to
the housing market decline but did increase by 20 permits for single family homes since 2007,
with commercial and industrial remaining strong. Overall, permits and inspections increased in
2008 as a result of the May 25, 2008 tornado disaster and hail storm. In 2008, there were a total
of 9,207 inspections compared to 5,650 inspections in 2007, mostly for roofing, siding, and
window inspections. Of those permits 2,168 remain open. In 2009 there were 188 permits issued
for new homes and the City could expect less permits this year due to the housing market.
Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to accept and approve the Planning Commission Annual
Report.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
