MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2008 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Puleo, Miron <br />ABSENT: Granger, Petryk <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan <br />Bear, City Attorney Dave Snyder, City Engineer Jay Kennedy, Public Works Director Chris Petree, <br />and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes of April 7, 2008 <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the minutes for the City Council meeting of April 7, <br />2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the agenda for April 21, 2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />2008 Hugo Kidz'n Biz Fest — Hugo Business Association/Hugo EDA/The Citizen <br />On Sunday, April 6, 2008 the fourth annual Hugo Kidz'n Biz Fest was held at Oneka Elementary <br />School. This event is co-sponsored by the Hugo Business Association and the Hugo Economic <br />Development Authority and presented by The Citizen Newspaper. Its purpose is to connect the <br />Hugo business community with the parents and children and families in a PTA carnival atmosphere, <br />which allows the businesses to introduce themselves and market themselves directly to families. <br />The 2008 event was a huge success with more than 1500 children, parents and volunteers in <br />attendance as well as 42 businesses from the Hugo Business Association Many thanks went to the <br />Hugo Kidz'n Biz Fest Committee, on which Katie Riopel, Janine Ketchel, Debi Johnson, Louis <br />Melamed, Paula Romero, Shannon Devinny, and Nate Ehalt, Brian Denaway and Mike Ericson from <br />the City of Hugo. With strong support from HBA President Phil Klein as well as the City's own <br />Economic Development Authority, the event was publicized with much fanfare and hoopla with The <br />Citizen Newspaper's Publisher Louis Melamed. Mayor Fran Miron was in attendance again as one <br />of the chocolate chip cookie eating contest judges. He shared with Council, along with Council <br />Member Chuck Hass who was also in attendance, the community spirit that was exhibited by Hugo <br />residents and visitors last Sunday afternoon. Mayor Fran Miron publicly acknowledged the <br />members of the Hugo Business Association, EDA, The Citizen, and the committee members, and <br />thanked them for their volunteer work to make the City of Hugo a great place to live, work, shop, <br />and play. Shannon Devinny, Phil Klein, and Louis Melamed thanked the Council and City staff for <br />their work and support and thanked the many sponsors, especially WSB Engineering, that made the <br />event possible. <br />
