MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008 <br />Acting Mayor Becky Petryk called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron (arrived at 8:20 p.m.) <br />ABSENT: None <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan Bear, <br />Assistant City Attorney Cameron Kelly, City Engineer Jay Kennedy, City Planner Kendra Lindau, <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree, and City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Approval of City Council Meeting Minutes of April 21, 2008 <br />Puleo made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the minutes for the City Council meeting of April 21, <br />2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting Minutes of April 24, 2008 <br />Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve the minutes for the Board of Appeal and Equalization <br />meeting of April 24, 2008 as presented. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Remove G. 3 - Approve Amendment to City Personnel Policy for Reimbursement for Work Boots for <br />Building Inspectors. <br />Granger made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the agenda for May 5, 2008 as amended. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />Phil Watkins and Alice Waller requested to speak during the discussion on the Comprehensive Plan. <br />F.1 Proclamation for Older Americans Month May 2008 — "Working Together for Strong, <br />Healthy, & Supportive Communities" <br />City staff has received notification that the State of Minnesota is asking for community support for a <br />proclamation for Older Americans Month for May. Staff has been forwarded a proclamation which has <br />been prepared and ready for approval by Council. City staff recommends Council approve the <br />proclamation for Older Americans Month for the month of May and its title "Working Together for <br />Strong, Healthy, & Supportive Communities". Acting Mayor Becky Petryk extended a "Happy <br />Birthday" to long-time Hugo resident Mayme Vail who turned 100 last month, and noted the seniors in <br />Hugo play an active role in the community. City Administrator Mike Ericson read the Proclamation. <br />Petryk made motion, Granger seconded, to approve the proclamation proclaiming May as Older <br />Americans Month in the City of Hugo. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />
