MINUTES FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP OF MAY 20, 2008 <br />(Housing Issues and City Administrator Performance Review) <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan Bear, <br />Associate Planner Rachel Simone, Community Development Assistant Dennis Fields <br />This special meeting was called to discuss housing issues in the City of Hugo and conduct the City <br />Administrator's Annual Performance Review <br />Presentation of Housing Issues in the City of Hugo <br />Dennis Fields, Community Development Assistant and Rachel Simone, Associate Planner provided a <br />presentation to the City Council regarding foreclosures or vacant homes and rental housing. The <br />foreclosure presentation provided the Council with and update on the number of foreclosures in the <br />City and what City staff has been doing to keep track of them. The rental housing portion of the <br />presentation provided the City Council with information on what other cities are doing regarding rental <br />housing. <br />Direction to Staff <br />The City Council directed Staff to continue checking up on the foreclosed and vacant homes by doing <br />monthly inspections. They also directed staff to draft a rental licensing ordinance to keep track of <br />rental properties in the City. The rental program will not include a license fee or inspections of <br />properties. <br />City Administrator Annual Performance Review) <br />City Attorney Dave Snyder recapped for Council and the audience the Minnesota statute under which the <br />Council can go into executive session, including the performance review of the City Administrator. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to go into executive session for this purpose. Council conducted the <br />annual performance review of the City Administrator Mike Ericson. <br />
