MINUTES FOR THE EMERGENCY PRESS CONFERENCE ON MAY 28, 2008 <br />LOCATED IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS IN HUGO CITY HALL AT 3:OOPM <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Miron. <br />PRESENT: Mayor Miron, Council Members Becky Petryk, Frank Puleo, Chuck Haas, <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson, Fire Chief Jim Compton, emergency management <br />personnel, and members of the public and media. <br />ABSENT: Council Member Granger <br />An update was provided to the media regarding the Saturday clean-up event. Volunteers, <br />family, and friends should meet at the Washington County Government Center and get <br />bussed into Hugo. <br />Fran Miron provided an update of the people hospitalized including Jerry and Annika <br />Prindle and Don Jorgenson. The mayor asked that everyone continue to keep the families <br />in their hearts and prayers. The Prindle residence continues to be cordoned off by <br />Washington County Deputies. <br />Red Cross has completed their assessment and there are 311 homes damaged on the west <br />side of Highway 61 and 194 homes on the east side. Personal property loss is estimated <br />at twenty-five million. <br />Two council members took some time today to make contact with residents on the east <br />side of Highway 61 and offered assistance. <br />Forest Lake High School scheduled a concert for this evening and will be donating the <br />money to the Hugo Relief Fund. The event is called "Raising the Barn" and the goal is <br />$10,000.00. Salvation Army as set a goal to raise $100,000.00 for the North East Metro <br />area storm victims. <br />Fran announced there will be a neighborhood meeting this evening at Oneka Elementary. <br />Staff and City Officials will be present. <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree talked about debris removal. From 8:00-3:OOPM, <br />West Central Environmental Services will be present Wednesday, Thursday and Friday <br />PM. Frattalone & Arnt Construction will be mobilized on Saturday until dark to continue <br />removing debris from the clean-up effort. <br />Council member Petryk made motion, Haas seconded to adjourn at 3:45 PM. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Michael A.
