With the
amount of anticipated volunteers, there should not be the need to have a second day.
Volunteers will also blanket areas in Eastern Hugo to clean up littered areas from storm
debris. Several land owners have been contacted and agreed to allow volunteers on their
property to help clean. Signage for Saturday's event will be stationed this afternoon for
traffic control. Volunteers will have two colors of wrist bands. Orange is for family and
friends so they can get back into the area on Sunday. Yellow will be for all others and
will only be allowed in on Saturday to help with the clean up. Deputies will continue to
keep the area secured throughout the weekend.
The area will be covered with mobile first aid stations in case the need arises. 800MHz
Radios are being provided for the team leads in the field, which are the Hugo and other
local area fire fighters, for contact throughout the day from the command post. Hugo
Public Works Department will cover the eastern portion with trucks and trailers to keep
moving trash from the fields to the roadside for pick-up. Washington County Sentence to
Serve will pick up the trash from the roads on Sunday in Eastern Hugo.
Sheriff Hutton spoke about the deputy coverage on Saturday.
Council Member Haas made motion, Puleo seconded, to adjourn at 9:15a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Michael A.
