City of Hugo <br />Candidate Forum <br />Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. <br />Council Chambers <br />Present: Council Members Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Mayor Miron <br />Absent: Council Member Granger <br />Staff Present: City Administrator Mike Ericson <br />The Candidate Forum was sponsored by The Citizen newspaper with a member of the League of Women <br />Voters, Jaclyn Schroeder, acting as a the moderator. The Citizen Publisher Louis Melamed introduced himself <br />and thanked everyone for attending and thanked the Hugo Lions, who provided refreshments for the reception <br />after the forum. <br />Candidates attending were Washington County Commissioner Dennis Hegberg and Erik Langness for the <br />Commissioner seat, and Karen Cariveau-Wright and Phillip Klien for Council Member Ward 2. Tom Weidt, <br />candidate for the Council Member at Large position, and Mayor Fran Miron were allowed two minutes at the <br />end of the forum to introduce themselves and explain why they were running for City Council. <br />Candidate Derek Larsen for Council Member at Large provided a written statement stating his withdrawal from <br />the election and his support for Tom Weidt. His statement was read aloud by the moderator. <br />The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Miron at 8:15 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Michael A. Ericson <br />City Administrator <br />
