RESOLUTION NO. 2008-33 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUGO, <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, LIFTING STATE OF EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, on May 25, 2008, following a tornado touchdown in the City of Hugo, the <br />City Council declared a state of emergency to permit the City to respond to the exigencies created <br />by the event, and to take steps necessary to ensure the public, health, safety and welfare was <br />preserved and protected; and <br />WHEREAS, since that time, the residents, the City, and Washington County officials <br />together with others who have volunteered their time and efforts have secured the areas of the City <br />affected by the tornado and have made rapid and significant progress toward cleaning up debris, <br />providing aid and comfort to residents, and commencing rebuilding; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has received reports on the status of the areas affected by the <br />tornado and is very satisfied with recovery efforts and rebuilding progress to date. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that by the City Council of the City of Hugo, <br />Washington County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The state of emergency declared on May 26, 2008, is hereby terminated as of the <br />date hereof. Notwithstanding the termination of the state of emergency, the City shall pursue <br />recovery efforts and furnish aid and assistance to all affected residents as their needs appear. <br />ADOPTED by the City Council on June 16, 2008. <br />J0,Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Michele Lindau, City Clerk <br />
