RESOLUTION 2005 — 8 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CHANGE IN STATE STATUTE <br />TO REQUIRE A SUPER MAJORITY COUNTY BOARD VOTE <br />TO REMOVE A LOCAL ASSESSOR <br />WHEREAS, The City of Hugo has contracted with local Assessor Frank Langer since 1979, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, Frank Langer has provided excellent professional assessing services for the <br />City over the past 25 years, and; <br />WHEREAS, The City of Hugo has been most pleased with the services of Frank Langer, <br />as evidenced by continued low turnout at the annual Board of Review, and; <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statute provides for the removal of local assessors by a <br />simple majority vote of the respective County Board, and; <br />WHEREAS, The Hugo City Council voted unanimously at its February 7, 2005 meeting <br />to direct the City Administrator to prepare a resolution for special <br />legislation to change this; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, That the Hugo City <br />Council requests special legislation from elected officials to change Minnesota State <br />Statute 273.055 to require super majority vote of the entire County Board for removal of <br />local assessors. <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 7'h of March 2005. <br />F on, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />1241 <br />MaryCreager, City Cler <br />
