CITY OF HUGO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 64 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INCORPORATION <br />OF THE TOWN OF COLUMBUS, ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has been an Urban Township since the 1970s; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus provides a full range of municipal services to its residents, <br />businesses, and institutions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus is professionally managed by a staff of administrative and <br />public works personnel; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has a population of over 4000 persons and for all intents <br />and purposes has operated as a city for several decades; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has evaluated the merits of incorporation for several years; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has completed a series of engineering studies and has made <br />substantial investments in establishing municipal sewer and water within the Interstate 35 <br />Corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus believes it is vital to its long range planning and <br />investments on behalf of it residents, businesses, land owners, institutions, and other stakeholders <br />to incorporate as a city under the laws of the State of Minnesota. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Hugo City Council adopts this Resolution in <br />support of the petition of the Town of Columbus to incorporate as the City of Columbus.
