RESOLUTION NO. 2002- 13 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, CONCERNING REFUSE <br />COLLECTION WITHIN THE CITY <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo is currently served by a number of refuse haulers, <br />some of which are small firms run by local residents; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo is committed to insuring that its citizens and <br />businesses continue to receive refuse collection services that protect the environment, health and <br />safety of the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo is desirous of insuring that the refuse haulers which <br />service the residents and businesses within the City continue to provide first-rate service at <br />affordable prices; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo is interested in maintaining and fostering a <br />competitive field in which refuse collection can take place, and a high level of service currently <br />provided by the local refuse haulers continues; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City observes that small refuse haulers offer personalized and <br />responsive service that is typically not offered by large refusehaulers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington <br />County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. That the City Council of the City of Hugo is desirous of maintaining the <br />current competitive field that is created by having a number of refuse haulers available to serve the <br />residents and businesses within the City of Hugo. <br />2. That the City believes that the foregoing goals, including affordable and <br />competitive rates, top-quality and responsive service and protection of the environment, as well as <br />protection of the health and safety of the community is insured by having a number of refuse <br />haulers available to serve the residents and businesses within the City. <br />WHEREUPON, a vote being taken upon the motion, the following members voted <br />in favor: Mike Granger, Chuck Haas, Becky Petryk, Frank Puleo, and Fran Miron <br />the following voted against: NONE <br />WHEREUPON, said motion was declared duly passed and adopted by the City <br />Council for the City of Hugo 1 s day of April , 2002 i <br />iro , ayor <br />ATTEST: <br />71, <br />r <br />Mary Creager, City Cl <br />
