RESOLUTION 1998-5 <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF S.F. 3057 PROVIDING FLOOD <br />RELIEF AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION <br />FOR THE BROWN'S CREEK WATERSHED <br />WHEREAS, property owners and residents in the Brown's Creek Watershed <br />District have suffered, and continue to suffer, from the effects of historically high <br />surface water elevations; and <br />WHEREAS, the natural and cultural environment of Brown's Creek is changing, <br />requiring public effort to protect, preserve, and enhance valuable natural <br />resources in the basin; and <br />WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced to the Minnesota Legislature to provide <br />relief to residents and property owners suffering from the flood conditions and to <br />aid in the environmental management of Brown's Creek; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF HUGO, WASHINGTON, MINNESOTA, that the City of Hugo supports and <br />encourages the passage of S. F. 3057, providing $250,000 to partially fund flood <br />mitigation efforts, and $500,000 to partially fund environmental protection and <br />improvement efforts in the Brown's Creek Watershed. <br />Upon roll call, the following voting AYE: Warren Arcand, Debra Barnes, Andrew <br />Goiffon, James Leroux, Fran Miron <br />Voting NAY: NONE <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 18th day of <br />February, 1998. <br />ftmnlffiron, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />/4t4�1 41.,W, &�� <br />MaryCreager, City rk <br />
