RESOLUTION 1998-28 <br />A RESOLUTION APPLYING FOR A COMMUNITY-BASED PLANNING <br />GRANT TO PARTIALLY DEFRAY THE COST OF PREPARING A <br />COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION STUDY FOR THE CITY <br />OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />Whereas, transportation planning within the City of Hugo is necessary to adequately <br />manage traffic, limit congestion, promote commerce, coordinate movement of people <br />and goods with adjacent communities and state agencies, as well as efficiently utilize <br />resources; and <br />Whereas, the City of Hugo is required by the Metropolitan Land Planning Act to prepare <br />a Transportation Facilities Plan; and <br />Whereas, there are a number of transportation development decisions to be made in <br />the near future that will impact the community, and what will benefit from additional <br />study, including: the proposed tumback and improvement of TH 61 from MnDOT to <br />Washington County, the provision of commuter rail service along the west side of TH <br />61, and development along major transportation corridors; and <br />Whereas, the City has budgeted adequate funds in the amount of $26,700 to pay for a <br />portion of such a study, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hugo, <br />Washington County, Minnesota that it approves and supports a joint application with <br />Washington County to Minnesota Planning for the purpose of obtaining a Community - <br />Based Planning Grant in the amount of $18,300 to assist in funding a Comprehensive <br />Transportation Study as outlined in the grant application. <br />Upon roll the following members voting AYE: Arcand, Goiffon, Leroux, Miron <br />Voting NAY: NONE <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 3rd day of August, <br />1998. <br />irmon, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Mary & <br />Creager, City C <br />
