This would allow a y in the construction of the new wetlands until plans are prepared for the onal ponds proposed along Clearwater Creek City has adequate land under its ownership near 150th Street to locate the etlands required for mitigation. The City believes that it an provide more ene$t to the environment in terms of stormwater storage,water rovement, and wildlife habitat, by constructing a few large projects. rather than number of small pro}ecu. WSB 8t Associates is currently preparing the plans and specifications for the proposed Clearwater Creek improvements. This work should be completed by mid -summer 1997. The City expects to begin construction of the improvements by mid-1998. The City's engineer has calculated that 11,666 square feet of wetland will be filled as part of the 150th Street constructionProject. At a two -to -one replacement ratio, the City will need to construct 23,332 square feet of replacement wetland. At. $0.80 to $1.00 per square foot, this will cost approximately $23,000.00. If posting such an escrow is acceptable to the Rice Creek Watershed District, the City of Hugo will commit to the following: 1. The City will provide $23,000.00 to the RCWD as s guarantee for the replacement of the wetlands lost as part of the 150th Street project. EXHIBIT "A"
