RESOLUTION 1997-16 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING ACCUMULATED EMPLOYEE <br />VACATION AND SICK LEAVE BENEFITS TO PERSONAL LEAVE BENEFIT <br />Whereas, on July 21, 1997 the Hugo City Council adopted a revised personnel policy <br />for City employees, and <br />Whereas, the City's previous personnel policy established "Sick Leave" and "Vacation <br />Leave" benefits, while the revised policy combined these two forms of leave into one <br />category named "Personal Leave", and <br />Whereas, there is a need to transfer leave accumulated by City employees from the <br />two previous categories into the new category of Personal Leave, and <br />Whereas, Personal Leave is of greater value than Sick Leave since Sick Leave use <br />was limited to times when the employee was ill or injured, and there is no such <br />restriction on the use of Personal Leave, and <br />Whereas, when an employee left the service of the City, the employee was not paid for <br />unused Sick Leave, and <br />Whereas, employees are paid for unused Personal Leave when they leave <br />employment with the City, and <br />Whereas, the value of Vacation Leave and Personal Leave are similar, <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN., that Vacation Leave accrued by a City employee under <br />the old policy as of July 1, 1997 shall be transferred to Personal Leave under the new <br />policy on an hour -for -hour basis, and Sick Leave accrued by a City employee as of the <br />same date shall be transferred to Personal Leave at a rate of one hour of Personal <br />Leave for each two hours of Sick leave accrued, <br />FURTHERMORE, the table listed below is considered a true and complete accounting <br />of the transfer of the Sick Leave and Vacation Leave benefits to the Personal Leave <br />benefit and the Personal Leave shown shall be used as the beginning balance of <br />employees' Personal Leave accounts: <br />Old Policy <br />New Policy <br />Sick <br />Vacation <br />Personal <br />Employee <br />Leave <br />Leave <br />Leave Hours <br />John <br />Benson <br />423.38 <br />104.83 <br />316.52 <br />Mary Ann <br />Creager <br />175.6 <br />131 <br />218.8 <br />Mike <br />Kriz <br />168 <br />98.74 <br />182.74 <br />Robert <br />Museus <br />141 <br />112 <br />182.5 <br />Ron <br />Otkin <br />409 <br />122.421 <br />326.92 <br />Total: <br />1316.98 <br />568.99 <br />1227.48 <br />
