RESOLUTION 94-8 <br />WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 61 is a thoroughfare through the community serving <br />as access for businesses and residents, and as a convenient passageway for <br />people travelling through the City, and <br />WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 61 is currently in poor condition, suffering from <br />deterioration, potholes, and cracking, and is becoming unsafe for <br />vehicular traffic, and <br />WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Transportation intends to overlay <br />Trunk Highway 61 during 1994, and <br />WHEREAS, The contractor for the project has stated that, if required to <br />maintain access for through traffic on Trunk Highway 61 during its <br />reconstruction, twenty five working days are required to complete the <br />project between Washington County 8 and Trunk Highway 97, and <br />WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Transportation has imposed on the <br />contractor a requirement to begin work on another project overlaying 35E <br />on June 1. 1994, which may delay completion of the Trunk Highway 61 <br />project until the fall of 1994, and <br />WHEREAS, The contractor has stated that, if allowed to detour through <br />traffic from Trunk Highway 61 between County Rd. 8 and Trunk Highway 97, <br />that the required work on Trunk Highway 61 can be performed in ten working <br />days, and <br />WHEREAS, The contractor has stated that local access to the residences and <br />businesses along this stretch of Trunk Highway 61 can be maintained during <br />the construction process, but increased delays and inconvenience may be <br />experienced by people seeking to access the 'businesses and residences in <br />the area; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hugo, <br />Minnesota that it has no objection to detouring traffic from Trunk Highway <br />61 during the period of its milling and overlay from County Rd. 8 to Trunk <br />Highway 97 in order to expedite the completion of the project and limit <br />the amount of time adjacent business owners and residents are <br />inconvenienced by the project,, <br />FURTHERMORE, that this approval is subject to local access for residences <br />and businesses being maintained during the construction work. <br />Members Voting AYE: Barnes, Brunotte, Leroux, Miron, Stoltzman <br />Members Voting NAY: None <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 2nd day of <br />May, 1994. <br />Walter Stoltzman,44ayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Mary n Creager, Ci L�.,/Clerk <br />
