RESOLUTION 94-21 <br />RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE PERMITTING OF FIRE <br />PROTECTION SYSTEMS IN THE CITY OF HUGO <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 299M and Minnesota Rules 7512.0100 to 7512.2800 <br />has charged the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division with regulating the <br />fire protection industry within the State, and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Rules 7512.0100 requires fire protection contractors to <br />obtain a permit for fire protection related work from the authority having <br />jurisdiction.. and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Rules 7512.8200 allows a municipality the option of <br />issuing such permits itself or allowing the State Fire Marshal Division to <br />issue such permits, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo has a small number of such permits issued per <br />year, and <br />WHEREAS, in order to be the permitting authority. the City would meed to <br />provide competent plan review and inspection by a person trained in fire <br />protection system inspection, and <br />WWEREAS° the training required to obtain and maintain the knowledge and <br />skills to perform the plan review and inspection would be excessive given <br />the small number of permits issued by the City, <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO» <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, that it chooses not to be the permitting <br />authority under the cited law and rules for the permitting of fire <br />protection related work. and <br />FURTHERMORE. the City understands that such permitting will be <br />administered by the State Fire Marshal Division. <br />Upon roll call members voting AYE: <br />Miron, and Walter Stoltzmam <br />Upon roll call members voting NAY: <br />Debra Barnes, Bernard Brunotte, Fran <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 17th day of <br />October. 1994. <br />ATTEST: <br />Mary Creager, Cit OA erk <br />
