RESOLUTION 89-10 <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING TRAFFIC SAFETY ASSISTANCE FOR <br />THE INTERSECTION OF TH 61 AND COUNTY ROAD 8 IN THE <br />CITY OF HUGO. <br />WHEREAS, The City Council has deemed the intersection of TH #61 and <br />County Road 8 to be a growing traffic problem as a result of increased <br />traffic volumes, and limited controls at said intersection, and <br />WHEREAS, The Burlington Northern Railroad is in the process of <br />removing the tracks parallel to Highway 61 at this intersection, and <br />WHEREAS, The City Council has indicated a willingness to participate <br />with the State and County in an effort to correct this potentially <br />hazardous situation; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HU8O, <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY. MINNESOTA: <br />` <br />1. The City requests that the Minnesota Department of Transportation <br />install a traffic signal at the intersection in question. <br />2. The Minnesota Department of Transportation consider the widening and <br />improvements of Highway 61 at this intersection to provide for better <br />turn lanes and better traffic flow. <br />3. Request that the Washington County Highway Department improve County <br />Road 8 and lower the street grade from Highway 61 to a point <br />approximately 200 feet to the west. <br />4. The City Engineer and City Administrator are directed to meet with the <br />appropriate State and County agencies to express the Council's <br />concerns regarding the community priority. <br />5. The City attorney be directed to research the Burlington Northern <br />Railroad's responsibility with regard to participating in improvement <br />of roadways necessary as a result of track abandonment at street <br />intersections. <br />Upon roll the following Cmuncilmembers voted AYE: McAllister, Jesinski, <br />Olson, Vail, Atkinson <br />Upon roll the following Councilmembers voted NAY: None <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared <br />April, 1989. <br />Ma Creager, Ci 0 Clerk <br />4�7 <br />and adopted this 17th day of <br />in Mayor <br />
