S�bd�_{�� Probationary Period. <br />A. The first six (6)months, or as required by statute, of <br />employment of a regular employee shall be rearded as a <br />probationary period, or such shorter period as may be <br />designated by the Council. This period shall be utilized <br />for observing the employee's work, for securing the most <br />efficient adjustment of the employee to his position, and <br />for removing any employee whose performance does not meet <br />the required work standards. Employees who are transferred <br />or promoted to a different position shall also be considered <br />as being on probation in the new position for the first six <br />(6} months. <br />B. Vacation benefits shall be earned during a probationary <br />period, but should not be used until after its completion. <br />If employment should be terminated during an employee's <br />probationary period, there shall be no sick leave, vacation <br />or other benefits due him. Sick leave benefits shall be <br />earned and may be used during a probationary period subject <br />to approval of the department head. <br />
