o <br />' ^ <br />Subd._4. Affirmative action Policy Statement. It is the <br />policy and intent of the City of Hugo to provide equality of <br />opportunity in employment to all persons. This policy prohibits <br />discrimination because of race, color, creed, religion, national <br />origin, political affiliation, disability, marital status, status <br />with regard to public assistance, sex or age (except where sex or <br />age is a bona fide occupational qualification) and all aspects of <br />its personnel policies, programs, practices and operations. This <br />policy applies to all phases of full, part-time, temporary and <br />seasonal employment, including, but not limited to recruitment, <br />hiring, placement, promotion, demotion or transfer; lay-off, <br />recal1 or termination; rates of pay or other forms of <br />compensation and selection for training. This policy also <br />applies to the use of all facilities and participation in all <br />City sponsored employee activities. <br />It is the responsibility of every City Department Head and'. <br />Supervisor to cooperate in the implementation of said policy. <br />Failure of any City employee to perform in a manner <br />consistent with the Affirmative Action Policy will constitute <br />grounds for reprimand, suspension, demotion or dismissal from the <br />City's employ. <br />The concept of this Affirmative Action Policy is both <br />consistent with and fundamental to the maintenance of an <br />effective personnel system which is based on the principal that <br />an employee shall be employed, compensated, promoted and trained <br />according to demonstrated merit and fitness for the .job. <br />6 <br />
