RESOLUTION NO. 1976-42 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO <br />PUT ANY STADIUM PROPOSAL TO A VOTE OF OUR PEOPLE <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Legislature is now considering the <br />stadium issue, and <br />WHEREAS, public officials and citizens alike are concerned that <br />real estate taxes will not have to be used as part of <br />the final solution, and <br />WHEREAS, cities throughout the United States have experienced <br />vast cost overruns, huge operating deficits, and <br />WHEREAS, at the local level government enables its citizens to <br />vote by referendum on everything from schools to <br />hockey rinks, to parks, and <br />WHEREAS, we feel strongly that all public officials and citizens <br />would like to keep the sports organizations in the <br />State of Minnesota, we also feel very strongly that the <br />people should be given the opportunity to vote on this <br />item since cases throughout the United States demonstrate <br />that the public will bear the burden if our public <br />officials' estimates are incorrect. <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hugo fully supports this <br />resolution requesting the State Legislature to put any <br />stadium proposal to a vots of our people. <br />Adopted and passed by the City Council of Hugo, this <br />17th. day of February,1976. <br />ATTEST: <br />a <br />Carol Williams, CLERK <br />CITY OF HUGO <br />
