City Council meeting of May 7, 2007
Page 9
UPDATE ON ROUNTY ROAD 57 RECONSTRUCTION
City Engineer Jay Kennedy reported to Council the work City staff has had with Washington County
highway officials regarding the reconstruction of CR57 for the summer months 2007. As Council is
aware, this issue was first brought to Washington County more than five years ago, and over the past two
years, staff has continued to work with county officials more closely to share with them the desire to
have some reconstruction in place. Jay shared with Council the proposed reconstruction schedule, as
well as the activities that will take place this summer. No formal Council action was taken.
SCHEDULE NEXT I-35 W/E COALITION MEETING
Due to a large number of City representatives that were unable to attend the April 18, 2007 I-35 W/E
Coalition meeting, City staff had to cancel the meeting and requests Council select a new meeting date
on which to hold the next I-35 W/E Coalition meeting. City staff did receive comments from Coalition
members that they need more of a lead time to insure that engineering officials from both Washington
and Anoka County are able to attend the meeting, since discussion regarding the engineering on the new
interchange proposed for the I-35E/CR14 will take place.
Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule the next I-35 W/E Coalition meeting on Thursday, June
14, 2007, at 6:30 pm, Hugo City Hall, to continue discussions of issues in common.
All aye. Motion Carried.
DISCUSSION ON FUTURE MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM (CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT)
City Engineer Jay Kennedy has been working with PW Director Chris Petree and Finance Director Ron
Otkin as they plan for the future needs for the City's municipal water system. Jay presented the
proposed Water Supply Capital Improvement Plan to Council. Because of the late hour and the
Council's desire to discuss this issue at greater length:
Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to table discussion of this matter until the Council meeting of May
21, 2007.
All aye. Motion Carried.
COUNCIL MEMBER HAAS REQUEST FOR LETTER TO WASHINGTON COUNTY BOARD
ON DEPUTY SALARIES
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing City staff to send a letter to the Washington County Board
thanking them for increasing wages for the Washington County Sheriffs Department in an effort to
retain trained personnel.
All aye. Motion Carried.
