NIINUTES FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 1. 2007 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 8:30 am. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson and City Attorney Dave Snyder arrived at 9:30 am <br />DISCUSSION ON CURRENT SALARIES OF WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S <br />OFFICE AND PROPOSED MARKET ADJUSTMENTS <br />Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton, Commander Mary Stutz, and Chief Deputy Mike Johnson <br />requested that the Washington County Board study the salaries of the Washington County deputies, <br />which had fallen behind the market over the past several years. After the study was completed, the <br />Board agreed to increase the salaries over the next three years, commensurate with the market study. <br />DISCUSSION ON POLICE PROTECTION SERVICES <br />Sheriff Hutton shared with Council his vision for providing police protection services to the City of <br />Hugo. He stated that the service is based on relationships. His plan to provide remote video roll call <br />at the Hugo Fire Hall is proceeding with some final IT/computer work yet to be completed. The <br />sheriffs deputies would then report directly to the fire hall saving one hour a day. He has also <br />implemented the "no permanent rotation" for deputies desiring to remain on patrol in Hugo. <br />Chief Deputy Mike Johnson addressed the Council sharing his 31 years of experience, including <br />working the Hugo patrol years ago. Commander Mary Stutz also addressed the Council with his <br />20+ years of experience, now responsible for the patrol division. <br />Council discussed many issues with the Sheriff and asked many questions. Council agreed to <br />address future police protection service as part of the 2008 City budget process. <br />ANNUAL PERFORMACE REVIEW OF CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />City Attorney Dave Snyder recapped for Council and the audience the Minnesota statute under <br />which the Council can go into executive session, including the performance review of the City <br />Administrator. <br />Mixon made motion, Granger seconded, to go into executive session for this purpose. Reporter <br />Aaron Rupar from The Citizen left the Council chambers and Council conducted the annual <br />performance review of the City Administrator Mike Ericson. <br />"121110 �►M� <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to adjourn at 11: 15 am. <br />All aye.
