City Council meeting of March 20, 2006 <br />Page 7 <br />Use Agreement has been drafted with significant input from both the City and WBL school officials for <br />the purpose of coordinating the use of the community gymnasium after the school day is done. City Staff <br />met on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 with Phil Fisher, Manager of Building Operations for the WBL <br />Area Public Schools, to discuss the draft agreement and get input about joint operation of the facility. <br />The draft is well on its way to completion, with a few detailed changes from the meetings. City staff <br />would like to present the agreement for discussion by Council for a final draft agreement at a later date <br />which would be presented to the WBL School Board. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to table this until the Council meeting of April 3, 2006. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE SPRING CITY-WIDE BUS TOUR WITH TOUR WITH COUNCIL AND <br />COMMISSIONS (MAY 4, 2006) <br />Included in the Council's 2006 City Focus Goals and the On-going Priorities was the scheduling of a <br />City-wide bus tour with Council and all City commissions. Staff has been discussing with commission <br />members, as well as the Council, the selection of an appropriate date for this activity, which would <br />involve a City-wide tour of selected City facilities, a variety of neighborhoods, and selected businesses. <br />Granger made motion, Puleo seconded, to schedule a spring City-wide bus tour with Council and <br />Commissions for May 4, 2006 at 5:00 pm to tour selected City facilities, a variety of neighborhoods, and <br />selected businesses. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE JOINT WORKSHOP W/PC TO DISCUSS CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />At its March 9, 2006 meeting, the Hugo Planning Commission discussed its interest in scheduling a joint <br />workshop with Council to discuss code enforcement. As Council is aware, code enforcement is <br />currently is a complaint -driven job duty under the direction of building official John Benson and the <br />community development intern. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to schedule a joint City Council/Planning Commission meeting <br />for Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 7:00 pm, to discuss code enforcement. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSSION ON RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR DEDICATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE <br />SALES TAX <br />At its March 6, 2006 meeting, Council discussed the proposed constitutional amendment to dedicate the <br />motor vehicle excise sales tax to transportation needs. Staff was directed to solicit staff from area <br />legislators, who are generally not supportive of the current language. Council tabled action on this item <br />and directed staff to invite a representative from the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities. Staff <br />has confirmed the attendance of Sarah Erickson, legislative lobbyist for AMM, who will provide the <br />legislative discussion to date. <br />
