MINUTES FOR THE COUNCIL WORKSHOP OF AUGUST 28, 2006 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 8:47 am. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson and Finance Director Ron Otkin <br />PRESENTATION OF PROPOSED 2007 CITY TAX LEVY RATE <br />The Hugo City Council scheduled this workshop in order to provide direction to staff regarding the <br />proposed City tax levy rate for 2007. Finance Director Don Otkin presented a PowerPoint slide <br />show highlighting the City's bonded indebtedness, past seven years of tax rate information, and <br />suggested budget targets for 2007. <br />COUNCIL DIRECTION TO STAFF <br />Council agreed to direct the finance director to draft a resolution setting the 2007 City tax levy at the <br />maximum amount, as prescribed in the City's Fiscal Management Policy. This levy needs to be <br />certified to the State by September 15, 2006. <br />DISCUSSION ON GREEN ACRE ASSESSMENTS <br />Finance Director Ron Otkin presented the Council with a list of residents, who deferred assessments <br />on public improvement projects by placing their property in Green Acres. There are four residents <br />who are no longer on Green Acres and thus will receive payment -due letters, with a deadline of <br />November 15, 2006. No formal Council action was required. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to adjourn at 9:37 am. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Michael A.
