City Council meeting of September 5, 2006 <br />Page 5 <br />APPROVE OCTOBER 3, 2006 AND OCTOBER 17.2006 CANDIDATES FORUMS AT HUGO <br />CITY HALL <br />Louis Melamed, publisher of The Citizen, requested approval of candidate forums to be conducted by <br />the League of Women Voters on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 and October 17, 2006 at 7:00 pm in the Hugo <br />Council Chambers. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to schedule special Council meetings for October 3, 2006 and <br />October 17, 2006, 7:00 pm, Hugo City Hall, to allow Council attendance at the candidate forums. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSSION ON REFUSE LICENSE FOR VICTOR GARDENS HOMEOWNERS ASSN. <br />City staff was presented with a letter from a resident living in the Victor Gardens neighborhood who <br />questioned whether the refuse license holder for the Victor Gardens neighborhood could subcontract <br />refuse pickup to another hauler. City Attorney Dave Snyder prepared a letter outlining the legal issues <br />related to the transfer of a license to cause an interpretation of current City Code. City staff recommends <br />Council provide direction to staff in regard to the refuse license holder for the removal of refuse and <br />recycling in the Victor Gardens neighborhood. This issue was removed from consideration at the <br />August 21, 2006 Council's meeting. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to direct the City Attorney and City Administrator to investigate <br />further the terms and conditions of the agreement with Lakeville Sanitation and the Victor Gardens HOA <br />to subcontract to Gene's Sanitation for refuse and recycling removal. Staff was also directed to send a <br />letter to resident Robert Weir and update him on Council's actions. <br />All aye.
